Bong Center serves up free Thanksgiving meal for veterans

Nov. 8—SUPERIOR — The Richard I. Bong Veterans Historical Center would like to say thank you to veterans, active military and their families by providing a free meal on Thanksgiving Day, according to a news release.

The fifth annual Veterans Thanksgiving Meal will take place from 11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.Nov. 24 at the center, 305 Harbor View Parkway in Superior.

Center staff have the ability to feed 200 people and would like to invite those that have nowhere to go this Thanksgiving to enjoy the holiday with them. The meal will include turkey, ham, numerous sides and dessert. Participants can watch the football game on the center's large television and enter to win door prizes.

Meals will be available for dine-in, curbside pickup or delivery. Reservations are needed to secure meals and can be made online at

The event is made possible by the hard work and dedication of volunteers and generous donations from Manitou Inn, Pattison Park Lion's Club, American Legion Post 435, Tom "Action" Acton, Rivord Repair Station and Oliver Service Station, the news release said.
